Imagine a podcast about motorcycles that doesn’t revolve around buying gear or motorcycle spec sheets. Instead fill it with interviews with experts and individuals with amazing stories and lessons to share. That pretty much sums up Adventure Rider Radio.
A weekly show, Jim Martin (and Elizabeth Martin who produces) does a great job finding and interview folks with something to share. Some people have stories from long trips across the globe. Others share industry details and information on things like tires. Still others dole out wisdom as organizers and motorcycle professionals. Episodes are varied, yet interesting. Jim is able to ask great questions and guide conversations fluidly making for an easy listen.
The production of the podcast is top shelf. Sound quality is great and even when folks are being interviewed over skype, it still sounds more than acceptable. The show does run advertisements, but they are sparse and don’t interrupt the flow of the show. Jim also calls for listener support, but the request always feels non-imposing.
Overall, Jim is a pleasure to listen to and that is certainly the reason I do subscribe to the show. If you are looking for a starting place I suggest starting with the Southward Chronicles, which is a series of shows following a couple heading from North America southward (perhaps obviously).
Adventure Rider Radio is the most listened-to Motorcycle Podcast in the world. Stories of travel, adventure, Rider Skills™, industry pros, tech, tips, and much more. No need for nobby tires, ARR is a motorcycle show for all riders on all bikes.

In addition to the main podcast, there is a secondary monthly podcast called ARR RAW. It is a round table discussion about various topics with some well respected folks. It doesn’t work as well as the main show. Jim is a great interviewer, and it is that quality that hinders the socratic style the show calls for. It feels more like an interview that bounces from one individual to another. It’s not a bad show, but not as great at the main
