This review was written as part of roundup of a bunch of motorcycle podcasts. Check out the full list.
This podcast has one of the longer recording intervals of those on the full list. The retrospective musings are posted once a month and run around an hour and a half. Typically Bruce Philp, host and producer of the show, interviews someone connected to motorcycles in a peripheral way.
Topics orbit around riding motivation, emotional effect and social connections. Unlike most other motorcycle media, the show doesn’t deal with riding tips or gear specs. Instead it deals with people and their stories and community.
Each episode Bruce has a conversation with someone, typically over skype. There he is able to delve into some issue or aspect of the individual that connects with motorcycling.
Any time you meet another rider, anywhere on Earth, they’re immediately your brother or sister, and you are theirs. Even in a world as tribal as motorcycling can be, what unites us remains far bigger that what makes us different.

Sometimes when I am listening to the show I imagine that the host has cornered someone in a bar and just keeps on talking to them soldiering through the awkward lulls of the conversation until something insightful is found. At other times it feels like head shirking that no one expected.
With that said, there is something about it that makes me keep coming back. While I don’t tap that refresh button waiting for it to appear, I do end up listening to all of it. It is a motorcycle podcast that looks to explore what it is that connects us together. More than two patches of rubber touching the tarmac, what do we all share as riders?
